Welcome to a special episode of “The delicious behind the scenes of Farfuria lui Exarhu”! Today we will reveal a bit of the story filled with humour and flavour hidden behind the cameras. From our own studio, where the magic of cooking meets with Razvan Exarhu‘s amazing jokes, join us in discovering a universe full of amusement and delights.

 

The studio’s story; terms and definitions:
Who is Răzvan: one of the coolest radio hosts in Romania, a cooking enthusiast, that became a chef in the meantime and, obviously, a very funny guy. Oh, and the author of “Fericirea e un ac de siguranță”.

Parcfilm has been shooting “Farfuria lui Exarhu” ever since 2020.

The show belongs to Auchan, and here is the channel where you can watch all the recipes Răzvan made over the years. For a year and a half we used other studios, making small changes and adjustments to the background – but with limits imposed by the owners of the studios – until, on a winter day, the brilliant idea of making our own studio where we could create THE kitchen, the ideal one, the one Răzvan wanted in his chef’s dreams, struck us. With everything handy, an oven and a stove nearby, pans and cooking tools so close you could just reach out and touch them.

A studio filled with details:
Because the details matter, we did all we could to create a dream kitchen in our own studio. With Răzvan Exarhu and Auchan’s approval, sketches were drawn, 3D renders, meetings, retro furniture was brought into the studio, real tools and objects bough from flea markets.

A studio full of fun and flavour:
How can you not fall in love with Exarhu? He is one of the funniest people you’ll get the chance of working with.

The shooting crew is small, but efficient, the boys have learned to laugh on the inside at the jokes. With each new recipe, we witness the moments when Exarhu juggles with the ingredients and words, creating a gastronomic stand-up comedy show. And when Răzvan drops the tart we are all there to help with Poxipol 🙂

More than a cooking show:
At “Farfuria lui Exarhu” the food isn’t just for the viewers – it’s also for the team! Every time we finish shooting a recipe we gather around the table and enjoy the delicious food prepared. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing that each bite is tasted and enjoyed by the whole crew. We are one big hungry family, with an amazing job!

A studio full of technology:
Along with this new age in the development of “Farfuria lui Exarhu”, we also brought remarkable new technological changes in our shooting equipment. We are in an era where we use Sony FX6 cameras, alongside autofocus Sony Batis lenses, and we use the famous Laowa 24mm lens for the macro. The image quality is stunning, allowing us to capture every detail of the dishes and render that visual flavour in every frame.

We don’t want to get warmer than required in the kitchen, so we transitioned into using LED lighting. Not only do they offer perfect lighting to capture the vibrant colours of the dishes, they are also our rescue during hot summer days.

Conclusion:
Shooting “Farfuria lui Exarhu” in our own studio is a tasty and funny adventure. Working with Răzvan Exarhu, we witness some magical moments during which the ingredients turn into delicious comedy. We are proud to be a part of this journey in which the flavours combine perfectly with jokes and joy.
