Live on TikTok filmed with 6 Samsung phones – how we produced it for Samsung
When Samsung came up with the idea for “Hour 25,” an exclusive live shopping event on TikTok, we realized we were facing a unique challenge. Not just a regular live event, but an entirely new format with an unusual requirement: everything had to be filmed using only Samsung Galaxy phones, with no traditional cameras.
And we said yes — not because it was easy, but because we know how to turn technical limitations into creative solutions.
The technical challenge and what the setup actually involved
Once we decided to film everything exclusively with phones, we knew we had to work differently. We used six flagship Samsung phones, mounted on stable rigs and precisely aligned to provide complementary angles – from wide shots to close-ups and dynamic frames.
All six video streams were routed through a broadcast mixer, where we synchronized the separately recorded audio captured by a sound engineer. In the mixer, we added real-time graphics, sound effects, and camera switches. Basically, what the TikTok audience saw was a fully directed production — but streamed live, without delay.
The setup allowed us to maintain high visual quality, flexible framing, and the energy of a TV show — but with the agility of a native TikTok format. It was a blend of classic broadcasting and the new wave of social content.
How we prepared the set and coordinated the teams
The project required four days of intensive preparation: two for building the set and testing ambient elements, and two more for technical rehearsals with the full team. Everything was planned for a flawless live flow — from phone placement, graphics and sound integration, to lighting adjustments and timing. The setup involved collaboration between multiple teams: sound, direction, video, technicians, and coordination with the influencers involved. It was a joint effort, timed to the second, to ensure every detail worked in real time.
What a “directed” live on TikTok really means
Unlike a basic phone live where everything happens “handheld” with no visual control, “Hour 25” was a real production. Each phone had a specific role – one for the presenter, two for guest influencers, one for product close-ups, and two more for atmospheric shots. Every angle was calculated, every camera switch was programmed in live direction.
It required rigor – not just technical, but also creative. In a TikTok live where users can leave with a swipe, pacing and visual appeal are essential. That’s exactly why we treated the project like a TV show — but delivered in a social format.
Key takeaways for creating an impactful live event
- A live event isn’t just total improvisation. Audiences can tell the difference between something made “on the fly” and a well-crafted format.
- You can work with phones, but you need a professional team to turn them into production cameras. It matters who’s behind the scenes, not just what’s in front of the lens.
- Video mixer and separate audio are essential if you want real control and quality.
- Graphics and live tempo are part of the experience – just like sound, lighting, and role coordination.
“Hour 25” was a TikTok live filmed entirely with Samsung phones — a one-time event
, and proof that it happened is this making-of. A clear demonstration that today’s technology, combined with real expertise, can deliver spectacular productions even on the most dynamic platforms.
If you’re planning a different kind of live activation that blends modern formats with professional direction, the Parcfilm team is ready. We’ve got the setup, experience, and know-how to turn any idea into a live event with real impact.
