We prefer to work in rented photo studios in each city — because they are predictable, well-equipped, and provide full control over the filming environment.

For this type of production, a full day is reserved exclusively for equipment setup and technical tests. No matter how organized you are, mobility always brings variables, and planning must anticipate them.
What we consider for each project:

- Atomos Sumo (director’s monitor) – allows live control of all cameras and a fast pre-edit, significantly reducing final editing time and ensuring no key shots are missing.
Alternative solutions for lower budgets:
For those just starting out or working with a limited budget, consider:
- Sony Alpha A7III – a versatile mirrorless camera, great in low light, with professional video profiles
- Fixed lenses f/1.8 – ideal for depth-of-field control
- External audio recorder + entry-level lavalier – for dedicated sound capture
Limitations of these setups: no live monitoring, reduced battery life, and a more complex post-production workflow.
- Live pre-editing for efficiency and control
A live direction setup (such as Atomos Sumo) not only reduces editing time but also improves the quality of the final deliverable. Through pre-editing directly on location, we can monitor frame synchronization, sound quality, and ensure that no raw footage is missing.
This step becomes crucial especially when working in different cities, without the possibility of an additional filming session.
- Operational safety: redundancy and backup
Nothing is riskier in a mobile shoot than not having a backup plan. Each session involves:
- Backup equipment (cameras, cables, power sources)
- Multiple cards and dual recording
- Technical check-ins before each take
- Duplicated audio on separate sources
This redundancy has saved us many times in productions where there was no room for a “second filming day.”
